Dialup

56K Dialup has two great uses. The first is for home Internet users who do not need high speeds and want the least expensive service possible. Dialup is for those who perform a nominal amount of browsing on the Internet and transfer only a few pictures via email.

The second great use for dialup is as a backup for high speed connections. IFWORLD's dialup starts at $9.95.

DSL

A Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) provides you with a dedicated, high-speed Internet connection (up to 50 times faster than your typical dialup modem). DSL operates simultaneously with your existing phone line allowing you to stay online and talk or recieve faxes on the phone line at the same time.

Unlike Cable Internet access, DSL is not shared with other users until you reach the ISP's building. Once there, you share bandwidth with other DSL customers. DSL speeds are typically up to 768k upstream (or sending email) and up to 6Mb downstream (browsing the Internet and receiving email).

DSL is great for home users. It is also a good option for businesses whose Interenet access is not critical since there is not an SLA (service level agreement) on DSL like you will find on T1's. DSL is also more affordable on a monthly basis that connections such as Frame Relay and T1's. However, it can end up costing some businesses more due to not being as reliable as a T1.

DSL is not good for those hosting their own websites (the upstream is not fast enough), those sending large digital files, or those that cannot afford to be without Internet access for a few hours.

T1 and Frame Relay

Lease Line T1: A T1 is an extremely reliable Internet connection. A Full T1's speed is 1.54Mb guaranteed both upstream and downstream. This connection is the best option for businesses who are highly dependent upon their Internet connection.

Frame Relay T1: Frame Relay has speeds that are up to 1.54Mb both upstream and downstream. The difference between it and a Lease Line is that once you get to IFWORLD's building, you are sharing bandwidth with other Frame Relay customers. Therefore, you may not receive a full 1.54Mb at all times. This option is great for those businesses who do not need a full 1.54Mb at all times. It is also traditionally cheaper per month than a Lease Line.

Warning:

You are using an older web browser that is not compatible with basic Web standards.

We recommend that you upgrade to one of the following browsers:

Windows or Mac Users:

Netscape 6+, Opera 6+, MSIE 6+

Linux OS:

Netscape 6+, Konqueror

In an effort to create a more organized World Wide Web, the W3C has created many new Web layout standards. The key focus of their effort is to provide the best possible interoperability between the different browsing programs available.

In the days of the browser wars between Netscape and Microsoft, many hacks were propagated by the competing companies. However, today these hacks have done more to hurt the Web than to help the battling companies. By downloading and installing one of the programs listed above, the Web will be one step closer to eliminating these hacks and bugs.
